Rebecca Fricke is a self-taught quilter who took up needle and thread twelve years ago. She is inspired by both traditional and art quilting and she is especially impressed by the colors and designs of the Gee's Bend quilters of Alabama. Often Rebecca's quilt designs are based on the natural world—landscapes, flowers, trees and water. Rebecca uses irregular patterns, edges and stitching. The quilts are giant canvases, the layers of cloth are large brush strokes and the fine detail is in the stitching.
