Artist statement: For Rebecca, the challenge of quilting is not in creating precise corners and straight lines, but in evoking a scene or a person with limited piecing, including clothing and a few well-chosen colors. In her most recent w ork, Rebecca is experimenting with making different kinds of fiber art with specific historical contexts and for specific spaces. She is particularly interested in how cloth and quilts can be repurposed.
For her most recent show, Rebecca's work experiments with "tagging" other people's quilts - cloth graffiti, why not? Rebecca pieces and appliqués with a Janome machine and quilts using a long arm HQ free motion machine.
